Subject: Distribution of new “Press” armbands issued by Thai Journalists
Association and the Thai Broadcast Journalists Association
The Thai Journalists Association (TJA) and the Thai Broadcast Journalists Association (TBJA) would like to announce the launch of the new “Press” armbands for the journalists covering political rallies from 4 August 2013 onwards. The armbands will be available at the TJA’s and TBJA’s headquarters from Monday 5 August 2013, from 9.00am- 6.00pm.
A “Press” armband issued by TJA and TBJA is aimed at allowing police officers, as well as the public, to be able to easily notice a journalist from a long distance or in a situation of chaos, to ensure safety for media professionals and freedom of the press.
TJA and TBJA hereby advise journalists to wear the “Press” armband issued by the two associations and carry their organization’s identification card at all time of the news coverage.
News agencies are urged to submit a letter to the TJA’s or TBJA’s president, identifying the required number of Press armbands for the agency’s journalists as well as the list of assigned journalists. The armbands can be acquired at the TJA, TBJA’s headquarters: 538/1 Samsen rd., opposite to Vajira Hospital, Dusit, Bangkok. Tel: 02-668-9422, 02-2438479 ; Fax: 02-668-7505 or visit www.tja.or.th or www.thaibja.org.
The Press armbands are also available for independent journalists, provincial journalists and foreign journalists. They can submit a certifiedletter from their news agency, or the media outlet they contribute to, as the required document.
The journalists whose names have already been submitted as part of the request for the old “Press” armbands are automatically entitled to the new armbands, which now come in lighter green color and contain both the TJA’s and TBJA’s logos. Each piece of the armbands also has a serial number.
1. Journalists working for print media can contact and pick up their armbands at the TJA’s office on the 1st floor.
2. Journalists working for broadcast media can contact and pick up their armbands at the TBJA’s office on the 2nd floor.
