Dear Mr.Savankhone,
It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Mr.Somsanouk Mixay, former vice president of the Lao Journalists Association.
On behalf of the Thai Journalists Association, I offer our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the people of Lao PDR.
Mr.Somsanouk was a monumental figure. He made many contributions to the stability and prosperity of Lao media throughout his distinguished career, most prominently through his service as board member of the Lao Journalists Association.
Mr.Somsanouk was also and always a strong friend of the Thai journalists. We will long remember his work to strengthen the partnership between the media of our two nations.
On a personal level, I recall with great fondness on my visit with him to Lao in several occasions. As Mr.Somsanouk took me around Vientiane and other major cities in Lao with great pride, his vision for the country was moving and impressive.
We will long remember the deep, lasting contributions Mr.Somsanouk made to his country and the world.
